Put a little color in your step...

I have never understood those people that choose to wear all black or all gray. Mostly urban populations yet I come from Chicago and there is nothing worse than a dull wardrobe in the midst of winter bleakness. Personally, I think black should be for your "not so skinny" days or as a foundation. I love as much color, patterns, textures as possible. Heck, why not mix a few patterns. Find the inner child in you...remember when you used to dress yourself?

O' Christmas Tree

After much coaxing, I became motivated to decorate my Christmas tree early this year - a Chicago themed tree, that is. Can't say I love stray pine needles as much as Lucy; it was still worth it. Here she is from start to finish. Now I just need to figure out how to work that timer!

Black Friday

Our friend Norma Kamali sure got it right this season and just in time for Black Friday! Check out her $35!!! Sleeping Bag Coat available @ Walmart. Pure genius! It's chic, affordable, cozy and available for all mankind. Happy Thanksgiving, indeed.

Any oldie, but a goodie!

Red velvet cupcakes are pretty classic. Made them for the first time last night and it is safe to say they were a hit. Maybe it's the cream cheese frosting, maybe it's that special cake batter - all I know is everyone seems to like red velvet cupcakes! If you are looking for an easy recipe, look for the Barefoot Contessa's mix in your gourmet grocery store. Mmmmm mmmm, good!

Giving is better than getting!

As much as I love to shop for myself, I actually like gifting better. And, there's nothing better than a store who gets it and supplies you with a cool way to package your gift. (gift and wrap job above courtesy Anthropolgie; my go-to for all things girlie)

Turkey for me, turkey for you!

Yesterday, turkey came a bit early. My boyfriend threw a pre-Thanksgiving celebration with friends. Quite the spread as you can see above. And of course, we did over indulge in some adult beverages. Fun times...parched today though.

Nice yams.

Newsflash: winter doldrums ahead. An easy way to spice up the ol' wardrobe - tights! Patterned tights are very '09/'10 and take day ensembles to night quite easily. The best part, all the tights featured range from $5 - $18 via Forever 21 & Urban Outfitters. (for more ideas, see entry "Sensing a Pattern")

Dear Santa...what I would really like for Xmas is --

and, I have a few more ideas if you are interested!

Le Grainne Cafe

It's no secret I love French food. What's not to love? Croissants, cheese, wine, champagne...cheese. Did I mention cheese? Here are two pics from one of my favorite French bistros in NYC - Le Grainne Cafe. Great people watching, too! http://http//www.legrainnecafe.com/photos1.htm

The girl's got style

If I could have one girl's wardrobe...I would choose Nicole's. Perfect parts rough and tough meets boho chic meets glamour. Ho hum...plus she's a hot mom and we all want that title.
Who's your style icon? I'd love to know!

Potions, lotions, and lipgloss..oh my!

Perhaps a job hazard...I see it as a perk more often. I have an obsessive habit of hoarding beauty products. No doubt I am enabled by working for a beauty website; but I have come to the conclusion that it's out of hand and there isn't a girl on the planet that needs this much, well...beauty. I can't just throw it all away can I?

Mi casa - part 2

Starting with my closet...pretty sure you understand why I need more space. I need more room for clothes. Kidding, sorta.
