Feeling like Christopher Columbus...

in search of the New World. That's how I felt in my quest to buy these shoes. It took 45 days of intensive internet and retail detective work but I found them. They are kinda crazy 'huh? I am infatuated with them and they make this 5'2 kid feel supermodel tall. Hurrah indeed!

Dolly pink.

This month's gloss du jour by NYX Cosmetics. Dolly Pink. It's not sheer so it's a real pop of color which I love. Attention grabbing lips make people least that's what I am telling myself. Found here.

Graceful Peacocks

The internet is a dangerous place. And Etsy is my weakness. I found this ridiculously elegant dress and chewed my nails off debating whether I should "commit to buy." And I didn't. I hope one of you does and if you do - email me a pic of you in this fantastic dress!

Bucket list: Thailand

Yesterday was productive. The boy and I pulled the trigger and booked our vacation. Enter Thailand. We have been researching so many destinations including Morocco, Bora Bora, Australia, Greece, etc. but issues like heat, religious holidays, monsoons and budget all played a role in the final decision. I am excited! The trip will commence in Phuket then we will ferry over to Phi Phi Island and finish up the trip in Bangkok. I have been craving something international and a bit of a culture shock. Now I just need to buckle down and cut off all retail therapy in preparation for this trip. Can you imagine the pictures?

What destinations are on your bucket list?

Hippie chick

I ♥ this image. Reminds me of my pseudo hippie days back in H.S. however, I never looked this put together and I never owned luxury labels. Very "Almost Famous"...

Springtime in New York

I took this picture yesterday. The official signs of Spring - budding trees and blue skies!

Happy Friday my friends. Thank you for all your sweet comments!

Song of the week.

Lykke Li has become a bit of an addiction for me. Perhaps it's her airy nymph voice, perhaps it's the steel drums in the background. I dunno...I just like her.

I take pictures in the bathroom...

yeah, I do. But I'm a one-man-band here. I had to. This is my Spring tunic. Blue and white = fresh. I also really liked the big pin that came with it. Maybe I should make a collage of bathroom shots...that wouldn't be weird or anything!

Couples Retreat

photos courtesy Google Images
I have been jonesing for a vacation pronto. Unfortunately I have to hang tight for a number of reasons. Seeing "Couples Retreat" did not help my pina colada craving. Although not an Oscar contender - it's still a harmless Friday rental that will garner a few giggles. This is what I would pack if I was heading to Bora Bora which by the way...looks heavenly.

Skinny {bleep}!

I bought this book in the airport a couple of weeks ago. A little bit out of boredom and a little bit because let's face it...we all want to be the Skinny Beotch. That said, I was 3/4 done with it by the time my plane hit Midway. It's definitely an easy read but it's starting to make me assess the foods I eat and really...what's in them, what they are made of and how it affects my health. {who knew Splenda was so bad?!?!?} I will sum it up for you: the book recommends you go vegan. While I can't say that I will be commiting 100% to this - what I will say is that it hit me between the eyes. 4 out of 5 stars!

She's crafty...

I have decided to refurbish my favorite khaki trench for Spring. It's the easiest and most cost effective way to refresh an old but timeless piece of clothing. The easiest part -- replacing the buttons! Above are four choices I found online for under $5. All I have to do is remove the old buttons and replace with my new set for a one-of-a-kind trench. Voila! I will post pics after the arrive on my doorstep!

Why can't I have this?

Ohhhhh...because it's $280 and I need to pay for my taxes. Hurmph.

If this doesn't make you chuckle...

Inside the life of "Amelie"

photos courtesy Google Images
Amelie is on my Top 5 movie list so that means if you haven't seen it - you're missing out. Not to mention Audrey Tatou is the greatest thing since sliced bread. Don't get caught up on the fact that you will have to read subtitles the entire time because you will quickly adapt. Here's what I imagine living in Amelie's world to be like and for those of you who don't know the storyline: (according to IMDB)
"...Amelie, an innocent and naive girl in Paris, with her own sense of justice, decides to help those around her and along the way, discovers love."

Song of the week.

I was rather skeptical when I heard ScarJo teamed up with my beloved Pete Yorn. Turns out it's musical heaven. Observe. "Realtor."

McJohanna & friends

St. Patrick's Day is a big deal in Chi-town. Everyone is given full permission to don green attire, no matter how ridiculous or too tight it is, and drink copious amounts of beer. Green beer that is. This year was a little bit more calm than previous years but it was a chance to get out and catch up. Strangely I wasn't camera-happy so here are my two favorite photos of the day....with some of my favorite people, too.

Wedding dress dilemma...part deux

Another wedding is upon us. Clearly I cannot wear the same dress again so it's onto the interweb we go seeking another suitable option. Let me know what you think blogettes!!
  1. One shoulder blue sheath
  2. One shoulder blue rosette dress
  3. One shoulder lavendar grosgrain sheath

Bird cage

Something about birds that I can't get away from in 2010. They are in so many designs ranging from bedding to clothing to jewelry. I fell in love with this laptop bag because it was anything but boring. Who says you have to be stiff and corporate when you grow up? 2009 was the year of the owl and 2010 is the year of the bird...that's what I say anyway!

Rays of sunshine

Monday presented another sweet surprise to my week. The Sunshine Blog Award from my lovely friend Meighan over at Fredericka Rose. It's always nice to know someone finds pleasure out of your random rants and raves. And might I add that Meighan has two blogs that make me smile quite often. Lovely images and photography. Check her out!

Sunshine Award rules:
"Post the photo, link to the person who gave it to you, and pass it on to other bloggers, and let them know you've given it to them. This award normally requires you to pass it on to 12 fellow bloggers but Meighan passed it on to just me and that makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside so I am going to give it to just one blog pal, too."

And my little ray of sunshine girl, Lisa @ The Spork Project!

If you haven't seen this blog; I think you will love it. It's fun, original, hilarious and darn right creative AND she's a Chi-town gal so - holla! I think you will learn to adore Lisa & Nick just as much as I do!

Cheers lovelies! ♥

The Princess and the Pea

Do you remember this story?
"...A prince is looking for a bride. A woman appears at the gate of his castle who claims to be the real deal but she looks, well, pretty disheveled. Old ma knows how to tell the difference, and so places a pea under the pretending princess’ twenty mattress bed. When the parvenu wakes up she whines incessantly about having slept so poorly because there was something amiss with the bed and BINGO everyone knows she’s the real deal. The prince marries his newly authenticated bride. The pea is put in a museum."

And so Princess Johanna has decided it's time for big-girl bedding but nothing too girly because The Boy would not be comfortable. We like the above. What do you think?

I am not putting a pea under my mattress.

Feathers, ruffles and overall prettiness.

The genius detail and beautiful draping of Alice and Olivia, Fall 2010. I picture myself wearing every one of these pieces and eating cotton candy on a big, pink cloud. Yeah, that's what I picture.

Feliz cumpleanos...
