Stiletto Steals

First let me apologize for the somewhat grainy picture but this was all VS would let me copy and paste! This week's edition of "Stiletto Steals" is brought to you by Colin Stuart of VS! Ladies, this could not be a better buy. These platform, patent-leather peeps are a steal at $49. {say that 3x's over} My personal pick is the nude patent with the python detailed heel. You can where this shoe with anything! I also like the blush color with the gold heel. Killer. This is a great trouser shoe and if you end up with a bright color like the teal...this is your outfit's wow factor. Add some simple, gold jewelry and a white tee and call it a day! Who's with me now?

DIY Project: Vintage Hutch

This is the hutch that was picked up last night via CL. I am so bananas over it that I had to share. The price tag is the best part: $60. Not kidding. Even though it looks gorge already...I am not going for the shabby chic look. What color should I paint it? I was thinking an antique, appley green. Thoughts?

P.S. Special thanks to my friend/interior designer, Kristen. Nate Berkus has nothing on you!

More beautiful with age...

photos courtesy Mario Testino via Vogue
Darlings...have you read last month's Vogue featuring the lovely, Gwynie? She is hands down my favorite actress - but not because of roles like Shakespeare in Love. Nope. I loved her in Sliding Doors, Posession, Shallow Hal, The Royal Tenenebaums and my favorite of all - Great Expectations. And now she is in her "30's" as the magazine so dramatically pointed out. Is it possible that she is even more beautiful today? If marriage, motherhood and domestication made her radiate like this, then I will have: D. all of the above.

Song of the week.

I think this song is really bad ass; the album does not disappoint either.
It makes me want to fist pump or bang my pen on my desk.
Have a really good weekend!

Favorite Fashion Week looks

photos courtesy Anna Sui
I saw a lot of  Fall '10 Fashion Week recaps and out of all of them - Anna Sui nailed it for me. Ethereal, hippie, neutral, feminine, dainty poms and ruffles. I went gaa gaa when I saw these two images. I will take the entire look - head to toe.

Stiletto Steals

This week's edition of "Stiletto Steals" is a double-header! Woot! So, here's the background. I met a lovely blogger with impeccable style at one of Pretty City's spa events. {be sure to check out her blog - she is a Chicago gal with great taste} She had an amazing pair of patent leather peep toes. And to boot - they were blue! Truth be told, I have been dreaming about them every since. She gave me her card on the way out and low and behold - her blog had a picture of her wearing them so you know what I did, right? I asked where she got 'em and she was kind enough to share with me the following links:
The Enzo peep toe

The Calvin Klein peep toe

Either way you shake it - they are both a great deal ranging from $58 to $99! My vote is for the Enzo's which are sitting in my shopping basket as we speak. They are just the right shade of my office walls! Enjoy and happy shopping!

Thanks Sandra for your help!

Another man's trash...

Sprucing up the bathrooms! How cute is the Notre Dame painting? Think I am going to attempt a gallery layout with a cluster of small frames.

You know where this is going. I don't even need to tell you.

You guys haven't seen my new plates but let's just say I gotta thing for roosters lately.

Instant tooth brush holder. So cute!

...was my treasure this past weekend. It was so fun! I think I want to try out for American Pickers; ya know if they are auditioning and what not. Something I learned along the way - although Sunday's are a great day to go, many places are not open. Stay tuned for pics of the big purchase from this trip. I am refurbishing my first piece of furniture. Pray for me.

Meatballs and musicals

Friday was a day of meatballs and musicals. We celebrated my brother turning a whopping 26! be young. And with that - we dined on Italian at Rose Angeli's. After dinner we hightailed it over to the Apollo Theater to see Million Dollar Quartet. Can I just say I was a skeptic but this is a must-see if you are a Chicagoan. The four characters that played Johnny Cash {my fave}, Elvis, Carl Perkins and Jerry Lee Lewis had gobs of talent. And I mean gobs. It was like attending a two hour concert. And if this is any indication of how good this musical dad, the original bee-bopper, proclaimed a "Good Job!" to Jerry Lee Lewis as he took his final bow and walked off the stage. True story.

Lucy got a new bed...

except when she sleeps on it, her body hangs out. {Note that 1/2 her body is not IN the actual bed - hilarious} Poor Lucy...pooped from playing and a bed that doesn't fit her. Rough day.

Ignore the disgusting racoon that she won't let me get rid of!

A lovely weekend to you.

It's that magical day - Friday. The week somehow comes together and you can finally take a deep breath. For me, that breath is very short because it seems there is a never ending list of things to do around the house but this weekend is broken up with some fun activities including a musical with the family and on Sunday I am going thrifting with a friend who has an eagle eye like no other. I can't wait to share my goodies!

Have a lovely weekend and on that note, three special reminders for you:
  1. Don't forget to sign up for the giveaway ending on Tuesday and posted here.
  2. is hosting our 6th Annual "Pretty in Pink" breast cancer campaign. Check it out here; it launches 10/1 and allows you to take advantage of $31 spa and salon deals!
  3. Gratzi to all of you for the lovely emails and comments. Please keep 'em coming. They have been so fun to read.

Pretty in Pink

Every year I look forward to October for one reason. {well, two if you include Halloween} The primary reason is because every year the company I work for, Pretty City, gives back to the community all in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The campaign is called "Pretty in Pink" and for the 31 days of October, our clients consisting of spas, salons, med spas and wellness centers offer treatments for $31 in honor of the cause. Think facials, massages, manis, pedis, microdermabrasion...the list goes on. And, for every business that participates, Pretty City donates $200 on their behalf to Bright Pink. Bright Pink is an organization that helps raise awareness and education for not only breast cancer but ovarian cancer and those afflicted with the disease as well. It's an amazing charity that I always feel so proud to be connected to. So...spread the word and get pampered in the name of a great cause - you never know who you are going to help! Register and find pampering destinations in your city!

Stiletto Steals

This week's edition of "Stiletto Steals" is from none other than Zappos. Apparently Aldo shoes are now carried on this online mecca so look no further and truth be told, you'd probably get them a heck of a lot faster with free shipping to boot! Need I say more? Anyhoo...booties or boots - they are always an investment. A bit more than the average pair of pumps. That's why I really like Aldo's Iacovone booties. For $120, you get a great value and gray is like a neutral so you can pair them with anything. Just make sure you spray the heck out of them. Pants, dresses, goes! And, I am a sucker for any sort of ruching or ruffles which this pair has. They come in black, too so scoop them up while they're hot!

P.S. Don't forget to enter Tuesday's giveaway! Winner picked Tuesday!

DIY Project: vintage chair

See this guy, he's seen better days. But, as you know, all furniture has 9 lives like a cat...'er something. I picked up this beauty for $25. And yes, I had a vision, friends. I have been slowly renovating "blah" bedroom to an office with "flair" for dear, old moi. And this chair is where I will conduct all my serious interviews while drafting award-winning marketing campaigns. {right? right!}

My plan is to paint the frame black. The room itself was a yuck, latte color and is now a vibrant, Tiffany blue {pics to come!} I have blue walls, a black desk, a zebra, print office chair and now I need accent pieces! I want to reupholster this guy hence I am soliciting your votes. Remember, office = flair. This ain't no Corporate America cubicle. Here are the fabrics in the running:
Tone on tone damask?

Missoni-ish print?

Forever fuchsia?

Classic damask?
What do you lovebirds think? Either I have officially entered Crazytown or I just might be onto something here. But, in the event that I have entered Crazytown...send me a sample of what you think I should reupholster this chair with. I am open to ideas! xo

A special kind of day.

Today we celebrate husband's birthday. I may or may not have been more excited than him about his presents which included Bacon of the Month Club {genius}, a foiled map, a cool pair of leather, half-boots and a 60-minute massage at my favorite Chi-town spa. He deserved it. Happy Birthday darling.

And not to be forgotten...Happy Birthday also to my lil' brother, Josh. 26! I hope it's your best year yet! { get your gift on Friday}

Chandelier envy.

This is THE chandelier that hangs in my client's salon in NYC. I am fairly certain it's the most gorgeous chandelier I have ever laid my eyes on. Oh! And the hair services are pretty fab, too!
