Today there is a wedding.

...of a very special bride-to-be. And there's nothing I like better than seeing two lovely people make the perfect pair. Here's to you my friend...congratulations!

P.S. Let's all say a little prayer that my ankles don't turn into "cankles" by dinner. And that the "ladies" stay in this dress without any surprise appearances.

P.P.S. I see some new friends have visited 101 Things...welcome! Just a reminder that I am looking for some guest bloggers in July. Join me won't you? Check it out!

Personally speaking...

I try not to bring too much baby talk to the table but it's been interesting lately...

Guess what I learned at my doctor's appointment last Thursday? Well, I learned that all is swell, healthy and well however Miss Thang is facing the wrong in breech. The nerve! They say there's lots of time to turn her around. It seems like a daunting task but I'm willing to try all the crazy things they suggest in the books. I'm really hopeful that I don't have to do the whole c-section bit. Humph...operation "move that baby" into effect. No wonder I'm so short of breath...her head is in my rib cage. Cripes!

And last but not least, my glucose tests were off the charts hinting at what could be gestational diabetes. Yep, all this in 24 hours. Monday I took a 3 hour lab test, got poked and prodded and drank some pretty foul liquids - think warm, orange Fanta. But hey, there's a silver lining...tests came back and I don't have gestational diabetes. In fact, I passed with flying colors.

Did someone say PEEPS? Yeah, that's what's been going down over here. So now I just have a child facing the wrong direction. Did you expect any less? Me neither.

Morning routine

Makeup, makeup, makeup - I love it; can't get enough of it! Awhile ago I posted the contents of my purse. Titillating material, I am sure. And now, a lovely reader wanted to know what is in my makeup bag. Not to be confused with my gloss bag which is located in my purse. No, no...this is THE makeup bag that gets my morning mojo started. The secret weapons I use to banish dark circles, line my puckers, elongate my lashes and rosy up my cheekers giving off the appearance of a well rested professional. Ha ha...fooled you! Without further adieu...

Telling time

photos courtesy Decoylab via Making it Lovely
I haven't bought a lot for the Little Miss. I think 3 outfits and a pair of shoes. It shocks even me, I know! That said, people do buy you a lot of clothes and obviously the necessities so I've been holding back and ever so grateful for every gift received. I am sure you know what I am getting at...turns out Lent is over and my solemn promise to not make any purchases has been lifted.

Confession: I did screw up and buy two tops because I had a maternity couture breakdown. It feels really good to let you guys know.

Back to the program. I found this eco-friendly bamboo clock on Making it Lovely and it truly was love at first sight. I don't think it needs to be said how much of a soft spot I have for owls at this point. You've been along for the ride.

Bonus: it comes in 2 sizes. Bummer: they are out of stock for 2-3 weeks.
Bet your bottom dollar: once this hooter is restocked, it will be hanging in her almost finished nursery!

Hoot! Hoot!

  • Pumps: Ebay

Get green!

Getting green has never been so easy for us beauty addicts. What once felt like an overwhelming task of label reading and online research has been made simple by several websites. You can even find out the rating on your favorite beauty products here. But my newest shopping infatuation is this:
And their mantra: "Reading labels and memorizing an ever growing list of ingredients to avoid can be overwhelming. On top of that, you may never know whether or not even "organic" products are ethically sourced or whether or not their packaging is eco-friendly. Spirit Beauty Lounge is a place where you can shop safe, knowing we've done the research for you! All of our organic and sustainable products come from companies who have clearly defined humane, ethical, and environmental policies ensuring the care of our planet and its inhabitants!"

Thank goodness for the internets. And while I'm at it, I'll share a few of my fave "green" must-haves that now line my shelves, ready for research and testing.
As if my skin weren't sensitive enough's now become even more temperamental. It smells lovely and appears to have some longevity as only a few drops are needed to dull my occasional break outs and redness. This is a great way to stretch your $38!
Just because I can't see my toes doesn't mean they don't need the same TLC as before. I love this vibrant pink hue and the fact that there is no formaldehyde or toluene. Surprisingly it lasts just as long as the big brands in the biz without a watered down appearance. A new summer staple indeed.
And because "feeding" is my middle name these was easy to fall in love with the sheer concept and packaging of Yarok' shine serum. A few drops rubbed into the palm of your hand before styling with heat and your hair will look, smell and feel amazing. And my most favorite fact about this brand is that 3% of their annual sales goes directly to the people of Ecuador and Peru in efforts to protect 10M acres of the Amazonian Rain forest. Very green indeed!

In my professional life, I've been fortunate enough to meet 2 of the 3 entrepreneurs behind these brands and they could not be more passionate and excited about their lines. It's really refreshing and I learned a ton!

Spirit Beauty Lounge is an amazing resource for new or hard-to-find beauty products. Fill up those shopping carts!

Cherry on Top

Sometimes you are having a random day when the stars don't seem to be aligning. It's often on these days that you get a little surprise, a little ray of hope - something to make you smile. And a couple of week's ago...Mel made me smile by sending a little shout out my way. {I'm a little late on this one...oops} Totally unexpected but all together lovely. So I'm passing the torch on...

List 3 Things You Love About Yourself: Love is a strong word but I'm working on it.
1. It sounds weird but I think I'm pretty funny. Not stand-up-comedian-funny but I think I'm pretty quick on my feet. In fact, I've been told that I am funnier now that I am sober and preggers. Go figure.

2. I think I've become more adventurous as I've gotten older. The farther the country, the more exotic - the more I want to visit. That goes with food as well. A famous man once said..."If it looks good, eat it."

3. I'm a good gift giver. Really, I am. I put a lot of thought into what I buy friends and family pending on the occasion and there's nothing better than seeing their faces light up as they open them.

Post A Picture You Love:
I love this picture for a lot of different reasons. The first being that it includes travel which is a huge source of joy and motivation for me. I love it also because I think it's hilarious how much my hubs is sweating in this picture. {yeah, that's not water, people} And the final reason I love it is because we had a lot of fun that day. We got lost in small towns, we drank beers in random spots and basically didn't have a care in the world. That's the way vacation should be.

Pass this on to five other blogs you adore:
1. Enjoying the Small Things: Mel actually introduced me to this blog. Ironic! I fell in love with Kelle's story, her heart and her kids. She captures everyday moments and makes them magical. And she is a self-taught photographer...mega talent.

2. Express-o: Her blog is upbeat and I always discover new links and boutiques. It covers a little bit of everything and I like that. {bad for my wallet at times} The author is also very sweet.

3. This is Glamorous: I discovered this blog {like everyone else did} in the very beginning of my bloghood. And I think it's a testament that I always go back to it week after week for it's beautiful design and imagery. It's sophisticated and feminine.

4. Quick & Curious: This is a newer find to me. I like Jen because she is down-to-earth and someone I'd like to be friends with. It also helps that her pup, Jake, is ever so adorable. She gives me a daily dose of NYC when I miss it most.

5.  Une AmericaineSuburbabble: This is a tie for me and they couldn't be more opposite. Une Americaine is a childhood friend of mine who lives in Nice and posts wonderful vintage pieces and accessories. She is also beautiful having been a model turned designer. Suburbabble is funny Tina-Fey-style to me. She's a mom of two and writes like I imagine her to talk...real, sarcastic and honest. I laugh out loud quite a bit.

Be sure to give these blogs a visit. And...thank you to Mel for this sweet little treat!

Scenes from the weekend...

We accomplished a lot this weekend. Somewhat tiring but awesome, nonetheless. Activities included: Home Depot visits, a fabulous lunch at XOCO, napping, a fantastic show, FIT FEST and candy. And it's Monday all over again...

Do you love?

"A new limited-edition Alexander McQueen skull-print scarf will be released to accompany the designer’s "Savage Beauty" retrospective exhibition at the Met. It’ll be $495." [Bazaar Blog]

My take on it: this should be framed and hung in a spacious walk-in closet for all to see. Beau.ti.ful.

Tweedy Friday

photos courtesy Austin Nelson via Wilco
To say I am excited for this weekend would be an understatement. I am very. The hubs and I are going to see Jeff Tweedy and although I am a slow learner I can tell you that I find the man ridiculously endearing and quite enchanting live. And funny, too. The weekend also brings some grubbin' with a soon-to-be-bride and some volunteering @ this awesome event. Yes, I like to stay busy.

In other news...the babe is the size of a head of cauliflower. Not sure what I think about that one. Vegetables haven't been as fun as fruits but hey...we're gettin' there. Enjoy the weekend!

P.S. Thanks for the great "guest blogging" response thus far! I'd love to meet more of you. Keep it comin'!

Litany of Love

  1. I am quite smitten with this children's book series.
  2. Lovin' these thank you notes for the wee one's shower.

Spring nails.

Literally. My friend grabbed my hand this weekend and exclaimed..."How did you do that?" It's the easiest thing in the world and lasts 10 days. This is my secret. When you're ready to remove, grab a cotton ball and some remover. Fun, right?

A happy bride-to-be!

These pictures mark one of the better bachleorette parties I've been to. I think what made it so adorable is how excited and happy the bride-to-be was. Whether it was opening a set of ice cream bowls or seeing a parade of champagne make their way to our table...she was equally enthusiastic including jumping and clapping. It was was really cute to watch. And really good girl time complete with belly laughs and the kind of giggles that are hard to control and impossible to stop.

Even though I won't be able to attend C's wedding in Mexico...I hope it is just as amazing as she dreamt it would be. So excited for her!

Scenes from Sunday...

Lucy and I went for an early morning walk on Sunday. We snuck in a few shots of Spring to prove that we witnessed 80 degree weather. It was amazing. I think we both broke a sweat so coming home to swing open the doors and windows was pretty high up on the list of awesome things. Let's hope the trend continues this week...

Someone once said...

Lesson in Life via Miscellaneous + Love:

"After a while, you learn the subtle difference between holding a hand and changing a soul. You begin to learn that kisses aren’t contracts and presents aren’t promises. And you start to accept your defeats with your head up and your eyes open. You learn to build all your roads on today because tomorrow’s ground is too uncertain. After a while, you learn that even sunshine burns if you get too much. So plant your own garden and decorate your own soul instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers. You learn that you really can endure, that you really are strong, and you really do have worth. You learn that with every goodbye, there’s a hello. Take chances. Date someone totally wrong for you. Say no. Spend all your cash. Fall in love. Be random. Say I love you. Cry. Apologize. Tell someone how much they mean to you. Drink until the bottle’s empty. Sing out loud. Tell an asshole how you feel. Let someone know what they’re missing. Laugh until your stomach hurts. Live Life." - unknown

Spruce it up!

photos courtesy Spruce Home
Accidentally stumbling upon Spruce Home's Etsy store was a happy discovery for me. There's nothing better than a good vintage find and a fresh update. And that's just what these natives from Austin specialize in. Their vision becomes your vintage masterpiece. Think Anthropologie with extra TLC. The first image of the bamboo chair caught my eye and it was downhill from there. And who doesn't love a beat up side table with a tomato red makeover? Take a peek at their store...inspiration abound!

LBD Friday

Hello ladiesssss! Happy TGIF to ya's. This weekend is the start of a busy social season and I'm excited after being cooped up this winter. I've got a fancy bachelorette party to attend so a run to VS is a must...and isn't buying something frou frou at VS for a friend even more fun? I think so. And I ever needed an excuse to get dressed up with the ladies. Fun, fun and hopefully lots of great snaps which I realize I've become rather lax in. That's about to change! Enjoy!
