Whoa.

photo courtesy Bauble Bar
When I saw this ring, my fingers stopped typing...and clicking. It's kind of bananas, no?
It's the kind of ring you wear whilst sipping a glass of bubbles wearing an impossibly perfect little black dress and a pair of killer heels. Oh! And a really banging blow out...Barbarella style.

Birthday next year?

Lincoln Hall

This was last Thursday. An official date night of sorts. Admittedly it was a tad weird to leave the building without an overstuffed diaper bag and swaddle blankets trailing behind us but we did it. It was a test run with our new nanny and it was a success! Husband and I went to Lincoln Hall to see Peter Bjorn and John. {part of his dad's day gift} Perhaps you've listened to them before...they sing this song. Anyhoo, you should check them out. Husband wanted you to know they have a lot of other great music, too.

That's all.

Well. I certainly think this ikat pillow would look just lovely on just about any sofa. Including mine!

Snyder & the Swedes

photos courtesy Snyder & the Swedes
I love illustrations; especially vintage looking ones. They charm the pants off me. If you are not familiar with Snyder and the Swedes, you must check out the website. It's laden with talented graphic design artists from none other...Sweden. I especially love Ingela's illustrations. I think it's based on the simple fact that all her animals have smiles on their faces. Just perfect for a kid's room!

OOOTD: romper stomper

This is Olivia's "raise the roof" pose. You like? She's finally fitting into 3-month clothing with a little extra room to grow. Perfect for big meals. Smart girl, I say.

The deets:
  • floral romper - Carter's
The occasion: strollin' to the Farmer's Market

Anniversary Friday

photos courtesy Pinterest
Today marks my parent's 44th anniversary. 44 years! That's pretty amazing in my books. They really are buddies, ya know? He accompanies her to the Nordstrom 1/2 Yearly Sales and she accompanies him to Fresh Market where they tool around for hours...or Costco. {that's a big one in my dad's books} Yet somehow they never tire of each other and that's pretty remarkable. Kinda genius actually -- marry your best friend.

Happy Anniversary Mom + Dad! We love you...

    Get the Look: Back to School!

    There's something about this time of year that makes me a wee bit nostalgic. As a true nerd at heart, I used to love shopping for school supplies. New folders, new pens - the smell of fresh pencil shavings. I know, I know...total nerd. But so be it! There's nothing like a clean slate...and a matching Trapper Keeper! Remember those?

    This is my homage to a new school year and an A+ outfit for the first day. Good luck students!

    How mama got her groove back.

    Saturday was a night of firsts for me. As in, my first night out on the town with the girls since having Miss O. Husband gracefully kicked my tush out the door before I changed my mind. He's good like that!

    Our plan of attack: BYOB sushi joint and we'll see where the night takes us. These are always dangerous nights. As you can see, we were very thirsty. A bottle of wine for each girl? Normal.

    ...and that's us in a cab to this bar. This is the part where you think you are indeed, the best dancer to ever exist. Oh and of course, we'll take a picture for you Mr. Joe Photo! Why not?

    Cue cab ride home, sleeps in makeup and a daughter that doesn't care if it's 2:30am and you just went to bed.

    Note to self: let's keep these "nights" to an annual occurrence. Too. old. to. recover. like. I. used. to.

    Scenes from the weekend...

    This weekend proved to be everything I wanted it to be: friends, family and some relaxation. Here are a few snaps to prove it!

    Look what Grandma G bought Olivia. Is this not a great book or what?!

    ...and Grandpa G made Olivia a sweet momento for her upcoming christening: a ring with her birthstone. Yes, I said he made that! He's got mad skillz, huh? {so tiny!}

    It's official...I cut the bangs on Friday. Now you don't need to hear me pine for them any longer.
    I have to say, I love them.

    Don't you love rediscovering items in your closet? Exhibit A, above.
    Classic clutches make me happy!

    A raging basil plant. Caprese salad anyone?

    Rosemary, chives and green onion! Job well done, husband!

    One week.

    One week. One week I begin working full time again. I didn't think I would like being at home so so much but this little girl has really stolen my heart. I will miss our daily walks, singing sessions and morning routine consisting of snuggles, the Today Show and massive amounts of coffee.

    BUT! I am excited to see my work pals and experience the adrenaline rush of landing a sale again. Let's face it, mama needs to bring home the bacon in order to keep that closet well equipped with dresses, leggings, onesies and more!

    Yoo hoo Friday!

    photo courtesy Patterson Maker
    Wahoo, it's Friday! This has been a great week. Olivia had a meet & greet with both sets of our coworkers and we got plenty of outside time. Hasn't this weather been amazing? I love it!

    Next week I start work full time again hence I am prepping myself this weekend with gobs of family time. And hey - it's the Air + Water Show this weekend! We plan on staring up at the Great Blue quite a bit and taking a spin around the Botanic Gardens. {please don't rain weather gods!}

    What's on your agenda? Whatever it is...I hope it's chalk full of fun in the sun!

      Wardrobe staple

      I will be needing these to pair with suede shooties and a men's shirt.
      Oh and a moto jacket. Messy bun. Bright scarf.

      Yes?

      I can see it now...

      Planning ahead

      photo courtesy Target
      I may or may not have purchased this dress for Olivia's wardrobe next year. You never know people...what if they don't care it next year? My mom always told me to buy in advance. So, umm...12 months it is.

      Rock-a-baby!

      Last Friday was one of those random nights where spontaneous plans play out perfectly. Husband got home from work, we picked up carry out and some wine and sat out on the patio listening to music. It should be noted that Olivia really responds to music. In fact, she really likes Pandora simply because her tastes vary between Modest Mouse to The Ramones. She's eclectic that one, I tell ya.

      Exhibit A & B: above photos illustrate her rockin' out with daddy...I could see her playing the drums. Percussion, for sure.

      It doesn't get any better than Kate Spade does it? The vivid green yet feminine blouse, the perfect canary yellow pumps and the haphazard-just-so-slightly cuffed skinnies. Top it with a colorful statement necklace and a straight bang. Bravo. {did I mention I'm cutting bangs again?}

        Yeah, so about getting back in shape...it's time. I've got some baby lbs to lose and I feel like I'm ready to work out regularly again. I went for my first run on Sunday and I had moderate success. A whopping 40 minutes. {pats self on back} And now I need to commit. As in 3x's a week. I figure that's an obtainable goal.

        Enough about me. I have a question for you fitness freaks gurus: What's on your playlist?
        I  need to update my iPod pronto. Muchas gracias.

        Today marks my blog's 2nd birthday. Happy Birthday 101!
        {It's also Olivia's 3 month birthday - wow!}

        Truth be told, I feel like I've been blogging a lot longer but it was only until this year that I really started to meet some great people and forge some wonderful friendships. This has been a year of change - awesome change that I wouldn't trade for the world.

        Thank you for each and every comment and smile you bring to my face, friends. I'll never grow tired of reading your comments and emails. You've inspired me more than you'll ever know!

        Thank you.

        Elevator scare

        Upon visiting the Modern Wing of the Art Institute, we had to take an elevator between floors being the stroller-goers that we are. One thing we discovered was that Olivia is very scared of elevators. I just about died laughing worrying when I saw this expression on her face.  *priceless*
