Five Fall Faves: meet Zoe of Style Foodie

Where do I begin with Zoe? She's sweet as pie and has a killer sense of humor. And she knows how to cook up some mean Fall recipes. We call that a triple threat. I think I am naturally drawn to the creative types and that she is! Style Foodie is a mix between culinary delights and fashion...tune in especially to her Friday Fancies...your shopping list will grow exponentially. Meet Zoe!

Hi 101 lovies! I'm Zoe and I blog over at Style Foodie, I'm so excited to be sharing my Five Fall Faves with with all of you. As you know Miss J and little miss O are quite the fancy ladies, so you can imagine my giddiness when Johanna ask me to contribute to her series. I LOVE Fall, it's my favorite season. Living in the Midwest I always get to see my seasons, and it's one of the things I would miss if I ever made a move to L.A.

Pinned Image

Dark nail polish! I choose my nail colors by season and dark colors are my favorite, so I love busting out OPI's "Lincoln Park After Dark" as soon as September rolls around.
Pinned Image
Changing Leaves/Halloween (I know that's technically two but you'll let it slide right?). I love how pretty the leaves look, they symbolize Fall for me. And HALLOWEEN it's one of my favorite "holidays", love decorating, baking the goods, watching movies, handing out candy, and picking/carving pumpkins!
Pinned Image

Boots! Once it gets cold I LIVE in boots! I love wearing them with skirts, shorts w/ tights, of course jeans, and layering them with funky tights and leg warmers.
Pinned Image
Seasonal drinks. Probably the highlight of Fall is switching back to warm coffee drinks. Confession: I've never actually had a pumpkin spiced latte, but it looks good. I am holding out for my pumpkin trip with the girls to try one.
Pinned Image
Snuggling! I love to cuddle, but it's just a little extra special when you get a nice little snuggle session with a certain someone on a chilly Fall day.

Those are my top 5 Fall Faves, I have so many it was actually really hard to only pick five! What are you Fall Faves?
A BIG thank you to Miss Johanna for including me in this series!

Thanks Miss Zoe...I loved your picks and I loved having you participate in this series! You reminded me of all the things I take for granted in such a short, fleeting season. xo

The "I'm Grateful for..." series!

This past week, I had the pleasure to attend our annual work retreat. Since we all work remotely, you could say I really look forward to spending time with these people. In two days, we packed in a lotta laughs, martinis and of course, company goals for 2012. Inspiring. Illuminating. Funny. Motivating. These are all words I would use to describe our retreat.

You gotta love a group of women that can be equal parts driven as they are fun. While I definitely missed my little family...I walked away with closer friendships and renewed excitement in what lies ahead. You really can't top that, can you? For this...I'm really grateful...and lucky!

Going goth...

As you can tell from last Tuesday's post, I've been feeling the need for simplicity, black on black and a touch of goth. {just in time for Halloween!} Balmain inspired today's post - here's my take on Going Goth. Each piece is an investment piece that possess a ton of wardrobe versatility. Right down to the Elizabeth and James pumps.

What do you think? Do you ever feel like rockin' a little goth to shake things up?

Walter

To most people who meet her; her name is Nancy. To some, she is mom. Others call her sister, friend or Mrs. G. To her grandkids, she is Fancy Nancy. Husband and I - we have a different name for her. We call her Walter. As in Walter Payton. Maybe you're not familiar with Walter Payton or from Chi-town...see here. Walter Payton was the greatest running back of American football history. Also known as the "Sweetness" and an instrumental figure in not only our last Superbowl but the infamous Superbowl Shuffle. In one word, he was: unstoppable.

Where am I going with this? Walter {aka Fancy Nancy}is unstoppable. I mean, look at that smile?! She has 6 grandkids and more energy than my husband and I combined. I kid you not. And today friends, today is Walter's birthday! You will never meet someone more passionate about her family. She even bought Olivia Fancy Nancy books for her library before she was born!

So today, today we salute you, Fancy Nancy. We give three cheers for you, Walter. It's your birthday and you can have your cake and eat it, too.

We'd never try to stop ya!

Mommy Morsels

Kara and I met virtually through blog comments and I am so happy we did! As a mom of 2 toddlers, I could glean quite a bit from this fancy lady. Not to mention, she is warm and genuine - another reminder of why Blogger has been such a great outlet for me -- meeting cool people! Without further adieu, please meet Kara of A Little Bit of Lovely. She's my new favorite multi-tasking mama!

Hi lovelies! I'm Kara from A Little Bit of Lovely and I am so happy to be here today. I fell hard and fast for Johanna's blog and are thrilled to be a part of her Mommy Morsels series. I am mom to 2 toddler boys, Cole (age 3) and Connor (almost 2). Here are just a few of my favorite finds for navigating life with toddlers.

I have been so impressed with the products by Prince Lionheart. I have 2 of the boosterPOD seats and they are fabulous. They are comfy and wipe clean easily. I'm also a fan of the weePOD for toilet training. After my oldest son was potty trained using a portable potty, we bought this seat to fit on top of our regular toilet seat. The transition has been fantastic, and he feels secure and comfortable while learning to potty on the "big" toilet.

Cloud B - Twilight Turtle

Once the "I'm afraid of the dark" stage hits, the hunt for finding the perfect nightlight begins. My oldest had a terrible time worrying about all the shadows that regular nightlights produced. I tried a ton of nightlights, before finding the constellation nightlight by cloud b. Not only can my wee one cuddle with the turtle, but he loves how his ceiling and walls are lit up with tiny little stars. (They sell a lady bug constellation nightlight as well.)

Automatic Yogurt Maker

I bought this Williams and Sonoma yogurt maker after it was recommended to me by my mom. Homemade yogurt is actually quite easy to make - and it is fresh, healthy, and tastes great. I like this particular yogurt maker because you can make anything from Greek styled yogurt to fruit-flavored yogurt. The machine shuts off automatically too, which is a major plus for us busy moms!

I was given the cookbook, Deceptively Delicious by Jessica Seinfeld, as a gift and I now own her second
cookbook as well. The first one is my favorite though. Her cookbook offers yummy recipes that incorporate vegetables and healthy substitutions. I'm all about getting veggies into my kids, which can be difficult at times, so I highly recommend this book!

These hampers by The Land of Nod are sturdy, good-looking, and come in a wide array of colors. I like them for holding dirty clothes, but I also use one for containing the many balls we own. I think they are so cute and could also function as playroom storage for dolls, stuffed animals, large trucks, etc.

Thanks so much for having me today, Johanna! To discover more loveliness, please stop by my blog, say hi on Twitter, or follow me on Pinterest. xo

Thanks for the words of wisdom, Kara. You make it all look so easy! xo

Five Fall Faves: meet Grace of Stripes and Sequins

This week's Five Fall Faves post is from Grace of Stripes and Sequins. I love me some Grace. Her blog is uber charming and she's one of the craftiest ladies I know. And...not only did we at one time work in the same industry but she now works for the super chic Bauble Bar that I am uhb-sessed with. Meet Grace...I know you'll love her as much as I do!

1)  BaubleBar Giraffe Bangle...  I'm obsessed with BaubleBar's collection of animal bracelets (full disclosure:  I work for BaubleBar.)  The giraffe one is my newest favorite... it's so fun and different!  I'd stack it with a few gold bangles - and maybe another sparkly bangle just for good measure.

2)  J. Brand Coated Jeans in Clay  These are just too fabulous.  They go with everything I own... I love the idea of wearing them with a simple t-shirt and statement necklace - or a silk animal print blouse.

3) J.Crew Sequin Bell Skirt - This is one of those pieces you can wear a million ways.  Keep things classic with a navy blazer or a white t-shirt...  or mix things up.  I have a pink & white striped tee that I love wearing with it, but polka dots would be equally fun.

4)  Leopard Loafers!  I feel unoriginal posting these as they are on every blogger's wish list right now, but I can't resist.  These Steve Madden Madee flats are just too fun.  I can't wait to pair them with skinny jeans, mini skirts, and cropped trousers all Fall long!

5)  Asos Pussybow Mini Dress in Navy.  This dress is so cute and easy.... I love it now with bare legs and pumps... or a bit later with black tights and ankle boots.  I'm all about fun dresses because I'm lazy in the morning... A great dress takes the thinking out of getting ready!  I love the idea of belting it, too... it would look fantastic with a skinny leopard belt!

I desperately need a new scent and I am a huge Heidi fan!

I could certainly use a new scent as I always wear fragrance, even if I do nothing else but hang around the house in sweats, and I'm sure Heidi has excellent taste!

I've always loved Heidi, so I can only imagine her scent is perfection. fingers crossed! :)

Congrats ladies! Please email me and send me your addresses for a Monday shipment.
Thanks to all who played! New giveaway posted next week!

Co-co-cozy Friday!

A busy week calls for an easy Friday. The kind where you throw on cozies at 5 o'clock on the dot! You know what I am saying right? The kind where you have the whole night ahead of you and trending topics include which movie to rent and where to order takeout from. Maybe that's just us...and maybe that sounds a little repetitive but I have to say, I look forward to it every week!
Stay cozy, my friends.

**Giveaway winner announced tonight!**

Scenes from the weekend...

I can't remember the last time I had this relaxing a weekend.
Usually we have to be up and at 'em but not the case this past weekend.

Don Quixote was awesome with surprise box seats for the season and a signed toe shoe!
We took Olivia on many-a-walk.
Lucy partook in the walks as well and clearly she was very tired from said activity.
{found her sleeping in husband's closet}
Rocked a new vintage blouse found here.
Attended a Halloween kid's party. Hilar.
And...leaves, leaves everywhere!

Textured. Goth. Glam.

photos courtesy Balmain
Balmain: Plunging necklines. Leather maxis. Textured rompers. Low slung pants. Gold. Fringe.
I couldn't tell you which outfit I loved more. And amidst the vibrant intensity of Fall's color palette, I can't help but go old school and favor black on black. That second image of the embellished blouse paired with the leather maxi has my eyeballs popping out of my head. I mean...how bada** would you feel strolling into the office in that? It just knocks my socks off.

Now..to find a leather maxi knock off that doesn't look chintze. That is the question!
Any ideas dear readers?

Five Fall Faves: meet Tiffany of Savor Home

The moment I first laid eyes on Tiffany's blog, I knew she was going to be a daily read for me. The presence of clean, white space with a knack for posting amazing interiors - she became a quick favorite. Even her blog profile picture drew me in - she seemed welcoming, warm and savvy all at once! And her great taste for interiors seamlessly transitions over to fashion, too. She's one to watch so please enjoy her guest post today...you'll be back for more!

Hi there 101 lovers! My name is Tiffany and I am the author of Savor Home. I adore Johanna's blog, so I am super excited to be here today participating in her Five Fall Faves series. Are you just as excited as I am about Fall?? Fall is my absolute most favorite season of the year. The air is fresh and crisp, the food is warm and the fashion is spectacular! It was really hard to narrow down just five of my faves, but here goes...
via
My favorite Fall accessory is a chunky scarf. They are fashionable and certainly serve their purpose of keeping me warm. Sometimes I find myself walking around the house in my pj's and a chunky scarf. Strange I know, but that's just how much I love em'...
via
Don't get my wrong, I really love boots, but my favorite Fall shoe is a beautiful wedge. I have a high arch, so wedges are comfortable to me. I love to pair them with dark jeans or tights and a chunky sweater. And speaking of a chunky sweater...
via
It's my favorite Fall top. I especially like chunky sweaters with extra long sleeves. The longer sleeves act as gloves or as a hot cup holder. Love that.
via
Fall just wouldn't be Fall without apples, my favorite Fall food. I love apple crisps, apple pies, apple tarts-- apple anything. I'm extra happy if the recipe has a kiss of cinnamon.
Dana Eason Photography
My favorite Fall activity is cuddling up on my couch with a warm blanket and my furry cat, Maxwell. This was our 2010 holiday photo. Max is extra cuddly in the Fall (he has been curled up next to me the entire time I have been writing this post). I just love him to pieces!
There are so many more things I love about Fall! You can find out what they are by visiting my blog, following me on Pinterest or on Twitter! Happy Fall and thanks so much for having me Johanna!

My pleasure Tiffany! I love your picks and now I'm craving something apple! xo

The "cool" factor

I always thought that one of the coolest things about traveling is the hotel destinations. There's nothing more exciting than the first rush of excitment you get upon checking in and seeing a well-designed hotel to make you feel chic and posh. I stumbled upon Mooi through my travels and fell in love with it's quirky, whimsical designs. Their slogan, "the unexpected welcome" is so fitting and there's nothing more charming nor unexpected than a horse lamp.

I can't say I'll ever have a space in my house for a piglet table but their lighting is pretty drool worthy. Check them out!
