Gifting Guide: for the dog walker

After yesterday's post, I got a tweet from Mel asking guessed it - a gifting guide for the dog walker! And there's nothing more I love doing than shopping for other people let alone spending their money. Ha! Kidding...erm...anyway.

It got me we really appreciate and show our appreciation for all the people that perform the little services for us everyday? Probably not as much as we should so I say...great idea, Mel. Your dog walker braves the elements, offers endless love and continues to be a reliable support system for that adorable pooch of yours. They deserve a lil' something, too! Here are my top picks - I tried to stay unisex because I wasn't sure if your dog walker was a he or a she:
  1. Dog print
  2. Cable cap
  3. Coffee mugs
  4. Starbucks gift card
  5. Holiday ornament
Cheers...I'd be happy to receive any of the above if I was a professional pooch pal!

Gifting Guide: for the nanny

There is one thing I know for certain after experiencing mommyhood these last six months - we would be up the creek without a paddle had it not been for our nanny. She is indeed the most amazing nanny in all the land. Just ask Olivia. She's kind, loving, responsible and funny. There's something very endearing about my daughter's smile when our nanny walks in the room - she LOVES her. We are aware that we hit the jackpot so I've been rounding up ideas on the perfect holiday gift for her. Something that is as special as she is. Here are my picks:
  1. Fur vest
  2. Sephora sampler
  3. Vase
  4. Heart tote
  5. Gold earrings
Do you guys have any more ideas? I'd love to hear 'em!

Dear Santa...

The No. 2 pencil skirt by J.Crew. I love it because it's classic but I can choose a punch of color and in this case, the spicy gold is my color du jour for this year's Christmas list. I see this color as versatile as black. With this year's vibrant color trends, you could pair this skirt with red pussy bow blouses, navy polka dots, leopard and more! I sure hope bright colors never go away! There are a variety of different fabrics, too but I chose wool so that I can dress it up this winter and still be warm in a skirt complimented by some funky, textured tights.

Which color would you guys pick?
I loved hearing what was on your wish list last week. Tell me more!

OOOTD: Russian Doll

Hiya. We're under the weather over here. Boo! But, there's one thing that always makes us smile and that's an Outfit of the Day post...featuring Olivia. And since it's been such a long time, I thought I'd share with you just how happy this little nugget is at almost 7 months! She's full of so much movement and squeals that it's almost hard to capture a picture of her these days.

I call this her "Russian Doll" look. I love her in red and black. She reminds me of a matryoshka doll in this outfit.

The deets:
  • Floral onesie - Old Navy
  • Black leggings - Circo, Target {$5!!}
  • Maryjane socks - VitaminsBaby

The occasion: rockin' links on the couch

Meet me for a drink?

I don't know about you but nothing charms me more than a glam bar cart. Mark my words...I will own one of these in my next home. Care for a Manhattan, darling?

Sparkle Friday

Now that it's officially the holidays...I'm ready for as much sparkle as possible. If it were legal, I'd wear sparkle from head to toe!

Speaking of, Saturday is date night with the hubs. This image propelled me to look through the old closet and find something dressy to don. We are going to see this and enjoy an adult dinner afterwards. Can't wait!

What's on your agenda for the weekend? Scrumptious leftovers? Family time? All of the above?
Hope it's splendid!

Mastering the art of cocktail making

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6
Surfing pinterest is bound to make you feel two things: 1. hungry/thirsty 2. the urge to shop.

#1. was clearly the case with this collage. I've been slowly getting into mastering the art of fine cocktail making. We even tried one of Lena's recipes the other weekend. That said, there isn't one cocktail from above that I wouldn't salivate over. perfect would these be for entertaining? Cake batter martinis...whoa!

What's your favorite cocktail?

A new series! Dear Santa...

'Tis the season! My family always asks for my wish list...well, let's just say I thought I'd make it easy on them. Pretty thoughtful, huh? And while I  know Christmas is about much more than gifts; I just think it's fun to go shopping virtually. Really, it's my Sunday activity when food is cooking and baby is sleeping so indulge me! Each week I plan to post one item that I would be thrilled to open Christmas Day.

This week I've got shoes on the brain and truth be told, I've been coveting these suede, fringe boots for about 2.5 years. Fun with leggings, tights, dresses and tunics. I like to think I am channeling my inner boho goddess.

What's on your wish list?

Mag Mile Lights Festival

If you're the type of person who has a hard time getting into the holiday spirit...look no further. The Magnificent Mile Lights Festival is the answer to your scroogi{ness}. We started this tradition last year when I was a minute pregnant and decided it needed to become a tradition. Actually, I decided it needed to become a tradition and husband obliged, good man that he is. Even though our nugget is only 6 months, I envision this becoming a really fun memory for her and something that she will get into more and more as she gets older.

We really lucked out as the car read 58 degrees! Perfect temps!

Husband took this shot and it's my favorite. It completely captures the spirit plus I love how Mickey is the only thing in focus!

My favorite float. Who doesn't love claymation Rudolph? I ask you!

...and this was Liv's face the entire parade. You could say she was wonderstruck.

P.S. Come back and visit tomorrow - new series to begin!

I was just reminded of how much we love this song. By we, I am referring to Olivia and I.
It's a real toe-tapper or in her case, a real leg flail.

Tulip Diamond Stud Earrings c/o Anjolee

I'm a huge fan of stud earrings. While I usually reserve chandeliers for fancy date nights, diamond studs are pretty much my go-to. You can imagine my delight when Anjolee approached me asking if I would review their Tulip Diamond Stud Earrings. Elegant. Classic. And feminine. Plus, I do declare that diamond studs go with just about everything.

The really cool thing about the Anjolee website is that you can customize any jewlery design to your liking. Go big or go home. Why not? Small and dainty. Not a problem!

Do you wear diamond stud earrings as often as I do? What's your go-to ear accessory?

{photos taken by my mom...yes, I know I need a facial, pronto. It's 86 degrees in our house!}

Special thanks to Anjolee for the lovely earrings!

Something's off...

I am in love with a t-strap ballet flat and it's at the top of my list...over a pair of pumps. The horror!

I knew them before I met them.

These girls are kinda like my soul sisters...only we just met last week.

Wednesday night, 7 bloggers got together over manicures and wine.
It was the first time we've met in-person but we've know each other for months.
Funny how that works!

Zoe and Ashleigh post-manicure. The drying process is very serious.

A special thanks to Essential Nail Spa for making us feel at home. And allowing us to "just be girls."

Beautiful bloggers gettin' their nails did. Kelsey, Cara and Melissa!

Group shot. Made me smile to see each blogger pull out a camera for the occasion.
{true hallmark of a blogger}

Fancy group shot. Because it's important to have perfect nails for wine sipping here.

Check 'em out if you haven't already!

Ladies...when can we do this again?

Five Fall Faves: meet Hunter of navy & orange

I am excited to introduce Hunter and her adorable blog to you: navy & orange. Hunter culminates the end of my Five Fall Fave series...she may be the last blogger but certainly not the least! Her style is unmatched as her posts exhibit only the trendiest and most classic navy & orange accessories and apparel. It's easy to get orange is my favorite color so there you have it...match made in heaven! Enjoy!

I'm Hunter from navy & orange and I am honored to be be featured on Johanna's blog, a daily read! Fall is is favorite season, by far, but this year there is even more to celebrate with a new hubby, puppy and house, which means looking for an excuse to be cozy by the fire will be easier than ever!

1. I live in southern California so any excuse to be out of the uniform of jeans and flip flops is gladly appreciated. My current fall outfit is leggings, boots and a chunky sweater. How great is this one from J. crew? I'm adding this to my birthday wish list, for sure!

2. The fall means more rain, which means more excuses to wear my Hunter boots! It doesn't rain much here, but if it looks like there is the slightest chance, I definitely add my navy ones to any outfit. I feel as if it is only appropriate, given my name.

3. In my family we have 7 birthdays (including mine) from the end of September to the end of October, so birthday celebrations and thus champagne are definitely one of my fall faves.

4.If you couldn't tell from the name of my blog, orange is one of my favorite things, so I love seeing more orange incorporated everywhere this time of year.

5. The beginning of fall means the end of the year so I love to begin the search for the perfect party dress. This dress from Milly will easily carry me from birthday celebrations to Thanksgiving and could even be worn as a New Year's Eve dress.

What are you favorite things about my favorite time of year?

navy & orange

Thanks Hunter! I always look forward to checking in with makes us both happy! xo

...and to all the Five Fall Faves guest bloggers - an enormous THANK YOU for creating such a great series!!
